Ortman Family Vineyards is founded on four decades of experience, two generations of winemakers and family roots that reach deep into California agriculture. Based in the heart of the Central Coast, Ortman has been making wine for 25 years. Father-and-son winemaking team Chuck and Matt Ortman advance the acclaimed “Ortman style,” which emphasizes richness, elegance and cuisine compatibility. 2006 Chardonnay Edna Valley Chuck Ortman was one of the first California winemakers to explore the benefits of fermenting Chardonnay in French oak barrels, a technique that helped earn him the nickname “Mr. Chardonnay” in industry circles. Edna Valley’s long, marine-moderated growing season offers fully defined flavors (including pear, apple, guava, and caramel) with fine structure and refreshing acidity. Silver Medal, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition 2006 Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills Delicate bouquet of blackberry, black tea and truffle with mineral accents. Palate is bright and broad, with high-toned flavors of cherry, plum, spice and creamy cola. Fresh and vibrant finish. 2006 SLO County Cuvee Eddy Blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Petite Sirah, and Viognier. Warm, jammy black fruit aromas with toasty nuances. Big, juicy flavors of blackberry, blueberry and raspberry with accents of mocha and vanilla bean. 2006 Syrah Rosé Paso Robles Follows in the tradition of the dry rosés that are favored in the warmer climates of Europe for their refreshing, food-friendly qualities. Begins with lively aromas of lavender, strawberry, watermelon and honey. Round, creamy textures bursts with flavors of raspberry, pomegranate and green apple. Brisk acidity and hints of nutty spice unfold into a long, dry finish. 2005 Syrah Paso Robles Sourced exclusively from a small 3.3-acre block of the Brave Oak Vineyard in Paso Robles, this Syrah offers toasty aromas of blueberry, violets and raspberry jam. The palate is supple, with juicy flavors of black cherry, plum, smoked bacon and oak spice. | TOP |
