Four generations of the Varozza family have lived and worked on the 37-acre Varozza Vineyards property in St. Helena and now Jack and Diana Varozza are proud to continue the tradition by making award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon. They are currently retrofitting the property’s original 1885 two-story stone and wood winery with its original scissor press and redwood tanks, hopefully to begin using it again in 2008. The Varozzas believe in delaying release of their wines until they are truly ready for immediate enjoyment. 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena Opens slowly, building layers of complexity with a strong, satisfying finish. Aromas of deep dark fruits, hints of cocoa and tobacco. On the palate, black fruit: plum, black cherry and blackberry. 350 cases produced in March 2004. 89 points, Wine Enthusiast Silver Medal, Finger Lakes International Wine Competition |
